The Indian legend attributes the discovery of tea to Bodhidharma, a saintly priest and the eventual founder of Zen Buddhism. Around 1,900 years ago, during the fifth year of his seven-year sleepless meditation, Bodhidharma found himself on the brink of falling asleep. In a bid to stay awake, he chewed leaves from a nearby bush and was instantly revived. These leaves, from a wild tea tree, helped him complete his meditation, cementing tea's place in history.

The story of tea spans centuries, with its consumption in India dating back over 350 years. However, a significant milestone occurred in 1837 when the Tetley brothers launched their business in Yorkshire, England, marking a new chapter in the history of tea and the tea bag.
